"A homey, comfortable stay"
We stayed at Bewley's Principal Hotel for four nights near the end of October, 2004. Our room was pleasant, clean, the bathroom bright and tidy, the staff courteous and helpful. We had a delightful stay despite nearly constant rain during the whole of our stay. The location is SO good for popping back, drying out, etc. Yes, the Temple Bar area is noisy at night; sometimes we were out among it, other times, had no trouble ignoring it inside our room.

"Lovely hotel in great location!"
We had a great stay at the Principal Hotel. The staff could not have been nicer, they were just lovely. Only a few complaints..beds were kind of old and not very comfortable, and it is noisy at night on the weekends because there is a club/bar at the bottom of the hotel. This was fine for us because we were out amongst the Temple Bar nightlife, but if you want to catch an early night's sleep, I'd say to stay away from Temple Bar in general, but yeah probably not a good choice for you. If you want to have a good time and be in the center of the action in a really nice old hotel, then go for it!
