"Nice hotel"
The Mont Clare was nice. It was conveniently located within walking distance of St. Stephen's Green, Trinity College, Grafton St. and Temple Bar. The room was slightly outdated and well-worn, but with character, not in a bad way. The hotel is obviously old, but kept up. It was comfortable and clean. The front desk was helpful and attentive. The bar staff were nice and apologetic when they didn't have what we wanted to drink. Breakfast was over-priced at 15 Euro (but we didn't eat it - it may have been phenomenal and worth it). They don't serve dinner and late night room service is only cold sandwiches.

"Our fantastic stay at the Mont Clare"
Please don't worry about previous review on this site "Beware, Stay Away". My friend and I have just returned from a fantastic weekend at this hotel. We were worried about the hotel when we read previous review and contacted the hotel with our worries. I was contacted by Karen the general manager of the hotel and assured that we would be safe at the Mont Clare. We thought about changing our hotel, but as we go over to dublin every year about this time for some retail therapy we find changing our hotel each time makes our visit different. We are so glad that we did'nt. We were made to feel welcome the minute we arrived (9.15am)
Our room was not quite ready so we were offered complimentary tea/coffee in the bar while we waited (about 10 mins) the receptionist brought the keys into the bar to us and told us to go to our room when we were ready.
The room was very clean, and had every thing we needed a little worn but very quaint. (hotel is closing in December for 2 months for refurbishment) The food was excellent we had breakfast everyday which was always hot and plentiful. We had the carvery lunch and bar food all very good and reasonably priced. All the staff we met were very helpful and cheerful and could not do enough to please you. They were able to answer all our questions about the local area.
We felt very safe and comfortable at the Mont Clare and in future will not stay any where else when we travel to Dublin. Give it a try you won't be disappointed
